About Machesney Park, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

A community deeply rooted in its history, the name Machesney Park has its ancestry in Machesney Airport. The building was situated on Main Street North Second where the Machesney Mall currently stands today. The airport was founded in 1927 by Fred Machesney. He was a Barnstorming aviator with a passion for all things to do with flight. Several years after the airport closed the Machesney Park Mall was built on the former airport land. The Mall featured an historic aircraft hanging in the center court in honor of Fred Machesney.

The Village of Machesney Park has neighborhood parks and recreational facilities for a family’s spare time. The Village, along with the county - Winnebago Park District, the state - Illinois State Parks, and the neighboring town of Rockford’s Park District, provide world class parks and rec facilities. If you are looking for an amazing family stroll then you should think about checking out Belvider - known as the "City of Murals.” various murals which have been encouraged, funded and maintained by the town’s historical commission for well over a decade. The town has been collecting its own collection of stunning works of art all over its buildings. Many give accounts of the town’s life and business in the past. Others celebrate the area’s culture. There are still others that focus on the goals of the town and depict the community’s hopes and values. They are not just beautiful but they are a vital piece of the area’s culture. The historical significance cannot be overstated. 350 artists have contributed their own special feel to this town’s constantly evolving public art project.

History, culture, art and community are abundant all over this part of Illinois. The nearby city of Rockford operates 5 museums including the Tinker Swiss Cottage, Burpee Museum of Natural History, The Discovery Center Museum. Another interesting piece of local culture is Pettit Memorial Chapel which was designed by the brilliant Frank Lloyd Wright. This is an extremely important historical structure as it was the only structure that Wright ever intended for a graveyard setting. The museums are perfect for colder weather and a great way to pass a winter break day and the building would be an interesting thing to check out for any modern architecture buff on a pretty spring day.
