Loves Park is a municipality in both Boone and Winnebago counties in Illinois with a population of about 25,000. Loves Park is part of the Rockford, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area and was established by a many by the name of Malcolm Love. He was an industrialist in Rockford. This wealthy investor purchased 236 acres of property in this area in 1901 and set up a gathering place. Over time, this area came to be identified as “Love's Park.” Illinois has cold winters with spectacular snows and icy temperatures but they also enjoy warm and lovely springs and it gets downright hot in the summer. This seasonal weather is highly attractive to many people and the Midwestern way of life is centered around these changing seasons.
Incorporated in the late 1940’s, Loves Park is now a prosperous suburban community. It has many commercial and industrial opportunities and is also near to other large and economically successful cities, such as Rockford. The community has a wide variety of recreational opportunities and is located just 80 miles outside of Chicago. This nearby big city provides jobs, and allows career opportunities but allows for a quiet and safe suburban lifestyle for kids and families.
People are also very attracted to the fact that there is no municipal property tax. The city is acknowledged as having a substantially lower cost-of-living than other communities in the area. Loves Park provides all of the facilities, services, parks and s on with sales taxes as well as tolls over the bridge to Rockford. When the weather conditions are pleasant, the area’s parks and the neighborhood parks all over the area are busy. Rockford Park District, for example, operates Aldeen Golf Course – once rated the best civic golf course in the state by Golf Digest. It was also named as one of the top fifty golf courses in the country that cost less than $50 by Golf Magazine. In the warm weather, people in the area have a wide array of activities and recreational options. They can find plenty right there in town as well as just outside of the city limits, or over the Rock River Bridge.
